Sydney Weekend Travel – Great Nature Adventure
Sydney is an amazing metropolitan city with plenty of things to do and see. However, besides having everything you’d expect from a modern city, it is also perfect for those who love nature. Whether you’ve always wanted to swim with sharks or see kangaroos, Sydney is bound to satisfy your adventurous spirit. With that in mind, here are a couple of places you should definitely visit if you love nature.
Kangaroo Island
Kangaroo Island is one of the largest Australian islands, and it is heaven for all wildlife lovers. Some of the species here cannot be found anywhere else in the world due to the island’s isolation from the mainland. Here, you can see wombats, which are shy, nocturnal animals. They can often be found foraging, grazing, or just running around the camping grounds. Another a bit more popular animal you can find here is a koala. However, koalas are usually well camouflaged, so it might take you a bit to spot them. Don’t worry though – once you train your eyes, they’ll be easy to notice.
Finally, as the name suggests, you can find plenty of kangaroos here. They love lounging around and soaking up the sun, and they can be quite a sight. Luckily, most of them don’t mind posing for a couple of photos, so make sure not to forget your camera. Just don’t get too close – their kick can be quite painful.
Mooloolaba
If you love sea animals, you should definitely visit Mooloolaba’s UnderWater World. It is an award-winning tourist attraction with eight different zones you can explore. You can see how sharks are being fed, or you can enjoy a seal and otter show. If you’re feeling extra adventurous, you can also dive with some of the animals, and you’d definitely learn a lot about them.
While in Mooloolaba, you should also visit the Mooloolaba Wharf. There, you can enjoy a nice boat ride and soak up the atmosphere. If you’re not into boating, there are many restaurants with delicious fresh food, so you can always take a break from your adventures and enjoy a nice meal.
Taronga Zoo
One of the best ways to see many animals at once and enjoy the nature is to visit a zoo. There are many fun Sydney cruises that allow you to sit back in your comfortable chair and enjoy the fantastic views, and some of them can take you to the Taronga Zoo as well. It is over 100 years old, and you’d have a chance to see all kinds of animals, from those that are native to Australia to giraffes, zebras and lions. While enjoying the sight of gorgeous animals, you’d also get a chance to enjoy the stunning view of Sydney Harbour in the background. Just make sure to wear comfortable shoes, as the zoo area is not exactly flat.
The Royal Botanic Garden
In case you’re looking for a place where you can enjoy a quiet family picnic surrounded by nature, you should definitely visit the Royal Botanic Garden. It is a huge botanic garden with breathtaking views of Sydney Harbour. The access is free, and it is open every day, so you shouldn’t have any problems adding it to your schedule. Moreover, there are also many shows and fun events for children, so visiting the garden gives you a chance to teach your child about the importance of nature. There are also guided tours in case you want to learn more about the garden and its history.
Enjoy a day at the beach
Lots of adventures can be found at the beach too. You can engage in water sports, play sports on the sand, collect seashells, or simply enjoy a peaceful walk from one beach to another. It’s also a great way to enjoy the nature and soak up the sun. Moreover, there are so many beautiful beaches in Sydney, the biggest challenge might be choosing the one to spend the day on. However, as they are all equally beautiful, you are bound to have a great time no matter which beach you choose. So, pack your lunch, bring enough sunscreen, and have some fun at the beach.
Sydney is a gorgeous city with much to offer to everybody who chooses to visit it, and it’s a great place for everybody who loves nature. You can enjoy a cruise to Taronga Zoo, or you can explore Kangaroo Island. If you’re looking for a place with beautiful scenery and peaceful atmosphere, don’t miss out on the opportunity to visit the Royal Botanic Garden. Finally, you can always simply enjoy a day at the beach, and work on getting a tan. Whatever you choose to do, if you love animals, plants, and nature, your trip to Sydney is guaranteed to be one you will remember for a long time.
