5 Healthy Habits You Need to Start Now
It’s absolutely never too late to start taking better care of your health. Whether you want to look better, feel better or both, the end result is the same: better health means a better life. You don’t have to commit to an insanely restrictive diet or a vomit inducing workout regime to enhance your well-being, either. Here are 7 healthy habits you need to start — and can start — right now.
1.Drink More Water
That’s it. It doesn’t have to be water sourced from the Himalayas or infused with essential oils or carbonated by the toots of vegan babies: just good, clean water will do the trick. Every cell of your body depends on water to thrive, so a hydrated body means a healthy body on a cellular level.
Drinking enough H20 will also help you maintain a healthy body weight, have more energy, stay more focussed and look younger, so you’re running out of reasons not to just toss a glass down the hatch. How much? Aim for at least 2L a day.
2. Eat More Whole Foods
No one is saying you can’t enjoy a little junk, but most of your diet should be comprised of whole foods. Fruits, vegetables, nuts, legumes, lean cuts of meat: these are all examples of whole foods that do a body good.
3. Snack Healthy
Many of us confuse snacks with treats. Snacks, however, are supposed to be small portions of food that actually nourish your body. The problems is not all of us are kicking around the homestead in easy reach of the fridge when mid morning or afternoon hunger strikes. The result is less than ideal food choices. While you may not be able to keep a mini-fridge or cooler with you everywhere you go, you can carry some healthy snack options. Vega bars, a bag of nuts and raisins or some of Tolman’s whole food snacks are dynamite for curbing your hunger and enhancing your health.
4. Pack Your Lunch
Lunch is the main mean of the day we all tend to let slide when it comes to eating well. Packing a healthy lunch takes less than 5 minutes and can significantly reduce the amount of unhealthy calories, preservatives and artificial colours and flavours you put in your body. All these things have been shown to contribute to poor gut health, which results in poor overall health. We’re talking a veritable smorgasbord of diseases ranging from IBS, to diabetes to heart disease and cancer.
5. Take a Winker
Naps are highly underrated in today’s day and age. However, a 20 minute nap can significantly increase your focus, productivity, willpower and creativity. So, instead of heading to the pub with your pals on lunch break, eat that healthy lunch you prepped at home then grab a kip. Under your desk, in your car. Go where you gotta go to grab a few quick Zs.
What are you waiting for? These are all super easy habits you can start implementing now. Your best life and healthiest body is just a few tweaks away!
