The Best Islands in Thailand for Your Honeymoon
Thailand’s extensive coastline is home to dozens of dreamy tropical islands, all scattered with palm trees, and surrounded by crystal clear turquoise waters. There are very few places in the world that can compete as honeymoon destinations. However, with so many Thai islands, it can be hard to decide which one is best. In this article, we’ve listed our favorite five and explained why they are top choices for newlyweds.
Phuket
Phuket attracts people from all over the world thanks to its gorgeous beaches, chic beach resorts and variety of watersports. It’s just as ideal for adventurous honeymooners as it is for those who want to enjoy a romantic vacation. Thai spas are everywhere, and there are a lot of attractions to keep you busy (Old Phuket Town is a must!). When it comes to resorts in Phuket for honeymoon, we recommend the Holiday Inn Resort. It’s four-star accommodation at its finest!
Koh Samui
Located in the Gulf of Thailand, Koh Samui is a popular island with young tourists and is the ideal place for a honeymoon. We recommend staying in Lamai, as opposed to Chaweng, as there’s still plenty to do away from the busy bars and nightlife. Take a scuba diving tour to nearby Koh Tao, or enjoy a moonlit meal on Lamai Beach. The Na Muang waterfalls should also be on your to-do list. Stunningly beautiful, they make the perfect backdrop for honeymoon photos. Accommodation is also plentiful here, so whether you want to stay in a five-star bungalow on the beach, or in a more traditional resort, you have plenty of options.
Koh Tao
Also located in the Gulf of Thailand, Koh Tao is a quieter island than Phuket and Koh Samui, though it’s extremely popular with scuba divers thanks to the myriad of coral reefs surrounding the island. Some of the most stunning resorts on the island are set atop the cliffs that overlook the waters, and many come with their own private pools and jacuzzis, offering you your own private luxury. The bar and restaurant scene is muted here, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing to do. It’s ideal for honeymooners who want a quiet vacation where they can spend more time focusing on each other than on the Thai culture and attractions.
Mu Koh Chang National Park
If you want to spend your honeymoon feeling completely secluded from the rest of the world, the Mu Koh Chang National Park is the destination for you. Hidden coves, stunning waterfalls, and beautiful beaches dot the 50 islands that make up the National Park, but you’ll also find plenty of accommodations, restaurants and even beach parties to keep you entertained throughout your stay. Often said to be one of the jewels of Thailand, scenery-wise, Mu Koh Chang is definitely the most romantic archipelago on our list.
