How to throw a Halloween Party for Teenagers

September 17, 2018 No Comment

Halloween is one of the most beloved holidays in America and everyone likes to celebrate it with as much joy as they can. It’s the time to let your creativity run wild and what better way to do that than by hosting an awesome party for your child. Teenage is a tricky time where the communication between parents and their children is not always on the same page. To ensure that you do not end up throwing a party that embarrasses your child, here are some tips you can follow.

1-Pick a theme

A Halloween party does not always need to have a spooky or horror theme. You can have all kinds of themes for your Halloween party from a superhero party to an anime themed party. The important thing is to keep the choices of your child in mind when planning a theme and what better way to do it than by bringing the child onboard the party planning process. Once you have the theme locked, then you can create a whole party around that theme. You can find some superhero accessories on The League of Geeks, if your child is a fan of superheroes!

2-Answer the big questions

Once you have the theme down pat, then it’s time to have a discussion with your child about how the party is going to be. You need to decide the scale of the party and how many people are going to attend it. Then you need to let your teen know which areas of the house are going to be open for the party and which areas are going to be off limits for all the guests. You also need to establish a budget with a little room for some extra amendments so that you don’t go overboard.

3-Don’t go overboard

While your party planning instincts are going overboard, remember that this party is for your child and their friends, not you. So while you may have the instinct to go for dainty little sandwiches or an elaborate casserole, your party guests are probably going to want bowls of potato chips and jelly. To throw the perfect teenage party, think like a teenager and not a mom. Think of all the junk food your teen likes to eat and then make a menu around that theme.

4-Get your child the perfect costume

No Halloween party is going to be a roaring success if the host aka your child does not have the perfect costume. Though you may want to sew or find a full blown out costume for your child, they may not have the same idea. If your child wants to stick to the theme but not have a super elaborate costume, then you can get them something low key like an Ironman hoodie for their superhero themed party or Harley Quinn themed socks and a Cosplay choker for a superhero villain’s party. The possibilities are endless.

5-Go crazy with the decor

The decor is one thing that you can go crazy about. With so many DIYs available on the internet and so many cheap decoration options available all over, you can splurge on decor without burning too big of a hole in your pocket. You can easily use everyday items to make some truly horrifying decorations and create a party that no one will ever forget.

Once you have all the planning down pat, then you can rest easy. Treat yourself to a glass of champagne and your favorite dinner while your child and their friends have a great time at their party and discuss how cool the host’s mom is for throwing such an awesome party!
